Day 17: Let's Get Physical

I am on Day 17 of my transformation from Flabulosa to Fabulosa and I have to say that I am really happy with the results. Even though I don't physically see a change...putting on clothes I have not worn for 5+ years because it was so ill fitting tells me a different story. Plus, others are seeing a change, not sure, if they are just being nice, but being told how good I look is a great motivator.

I've also started to get physical in terms of increasing my work out. I have been briskly walking abut 3-miles a day during lunch (M-F)...DEDICATION. In addition, as I promised myself I would, I started P90X yesterday (2/1) as scheduled. I got myself up at 6am and pushed play on the DVD player. I was really dreading starting this program because I was afraid of failing or not able to do the workouts, but I am just doing what I can and modifying the exercises to work within my own limitations. I totally have no upper body strength...sad I know...so yesterday's chest, arm and back workout were eye opening to say the least. The P90X program is KICKING MY ASS but I think that is a good thing.

Remembering back, I never did have that great upper body strength. I've always done push-ups on my knees because I could never push back up. I also think that is a big reason why I never developed the chest muscles I wish I had, but hopefully through this 90 day program I will gain some upper body strength and flatten the mid section at the same time. Maybe this will truly get my body ready for the beach...and no I won't be wearing Speedos...unless of course I am in Europe.

One good thing about this next part of my journey is that I am moving my body! That's an important aspect to this total physical re-invention of me. By no means am I running a marathon or bench-pressing 200lbs, 5 lb dumbbells are more like it, but I am moving my body and sweating! Sweat is good when you are working out...SWEAT IS GOOD!

Number of days to complete P90X: 88 days (May 1 is the last day for first round of P90X)
